Banking statement operations

Project Brief

Antelle was engaged by a local bank to design and implement a secure client statement generation system supporting the production of account statements for onward delivery to the bank's clients.

The bank required a reliable, controlled and supportable process for transforming statement data into client-ready PDF documents. Key drivers included reducing operational risk, improving reliability and control, and ensuring that generated statements were protected against unauthorised alteration.

The solution needed to receive statement data securely, validate incoming files, generate PDF account statements and apply consistent naming conventions so that downstream systems could pick up and route the documents for portal delivery.

Although the final statements were intended for clients, the solution was designed for internal operational use, providing the bank's operations team with a robust automated statement production process. Client-facing outputs also meant that enhanced logging, monitoring and notification capabilities were essential.

Solution Implemented

Antelle delivered an automated statement generation system built around secure file ingestion, validation, PDF generation, operational monitoring and exception notification.

Statement data is transferred via SFTP and presented to a custom Windows Service developed by Antelle. The service automatically parses incoming files, validates the file structure and mandatory fields, and generates client account statements in PDF format where the data passes validation.

The generated PDFs are produced as protected documents and named using agreed conventions to support onward processing by the bank's portal-related systems. Antelle's solution completes the statement creation stage, after which the documents are picked up by downstream processes for delivery through the bank's client-facing portal.

The system was designed to operate as a fully automated, lights-out process. Enhanced logging, Azure Application Insights monitoring and SMTP email notifications provide operational visibility and ensure that validation failures, processing issues or other exceptions can be identified and acted upon quickly by the operations team.

The resulting system improved the reliability and control of client statement production, reduced manual intervention, strengthened operational controls, improved exception visibility and reduced the risk associated with client-facing statement generation. Antelle continues to provide ongoing support for the solution.
