MIG Turbo Outlook Plug-in

Project Brief

Create a Microsoft Outlook plug-in that integrates with MIGTurbo.

The plug-in should provide the following features:

Security and authentication that mirrors that of MIGTurbo

Ability to file emails into the MIGTurbo document store

Address book look up from the MIGTurbo contacts database

Optional ‘auto-store’ function for all outgoing emails

Quick file function provide a hands off solution for filing a users Inbox

Provide MIGTurbo branding (where appropriate) whilst making the plug-in appear as part of Outlook.

Solution Implemented

The plug-in was developed using Visual Studio 2003 and fully integrates with Outlook 2003 / Outlook XP. All database access is fully abstracted into a data access layer to minimise maintenance in the event of database changes.

Two MIGTurbo toolbars were created the first for Outlook itself with the second providing specific functions when reviewing or created an email.

The main toolbar provides various functions for filing messages and most importantly visual feedback as to whether an email has all ready been filed.

In addition to the toolbars the solutions configuration options are fully integrated into Outlooks Option screens.
